FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
-
Script & Voiceover Advantages:
Interviews can take a long time to setup and record. Doing a professional voiceover will allow more time to capture overlay footage within the school.
It makes messaging very clear and concise and may reduce number of revisions needed.
The video may be timelier.
Script & Voiceover Disadvantages
It can feel more commercialized and often not as genuine
Viewers don’t get to become as familiar with staff & students.
Staff & students may not feel as involved with the creation of the video.
-
If your school is local, I’m happy to split the filming into two half days to capture a wider variety of content for your video. I understand that not all staff and classes are available on the same day.
-
Absolutely! Doing something a little different each time can help you stand out. For example, this video addition was a great way to incorporate all student at this local school. Maybe you want to make a Mothers Day video, or want to re-create a dance or video you’ve seen elsewhere? Let me know, and we can see if it fits into your package or will be a small increase on top of the chosen package.

TIPS & CONSIDERATIONS
Scheduling: MBV is happy to be involved with the scheduling of the filming, however, it is often more efficient for a nominated staff member to coordinate the schedule. This is due to their knowledge of staff and students’ timetables.
As a general guide:
I recommend scheduling at least 30-40 minutes for each interview to allow for adequate lighting and cameras to be setup.
(With the exception of students and interviews conducted in the same location)I recommend keeping recess & lunch available to film outside where possible. (Often this is when we can capture plenty of smiling kids!)
I recommend scheduling any outside classes/interviews in the early morning or late afternoon. This avoids any harsh exterior lighting when the sun is directly overhead.
Where possible, I recommend completing interviews back to back to save on setup times.
General Tips:
To keep the videos timely, it’s best to focus on younger year levels and key staff. Avoid interviewing temporary staff members.
If the school has a style guide, you are welcome to forward this onto me.
(A style guide is a brief document that includes colour schemes & typical fonts used in the schools marketing materials)It can be helpful to nominate a staff member to assist me at times if I need keycard access to buildings
If we are interviewing younger students, it’s helpful to have a staff member assist, as the students tend to respond better to someone they know.
When deciding on parents, past students, current students, or staff to interview… consider how confident they will speak and how well known they are in the community. Typically, people are more willing to share a video on Facebook if it features someone they know.
